so I figured I would check out your music, considering you said my bass sounded like it was throwing up, or something along those lines. I actually figured you might be a producer who could show me up.... dude do you even try to make your own synths or effect any of your stuff? I mean not terrible stuff, but the saying goes "those who live in glass houses should not throw stones". either way go check it out now, I made a couple of changes and tweaked some stuff. btw, its called reverse bass. very big in hardstyle, and getting more popular in the "edm" house scene. don't be so critical until you understand dude.

Jahn33 responds:

If everyone said you were perfect, would you try to become better?

Yes I use FL Studio 10

love it. just add more effects on the lead synth. you'll get more of that dirty house sound I know you went for. better than what I could do, good job

I dig it, but it isn't trance... I would like to constructively criticize this but I just can't based on it's misplacement

very very good dude. I decided to review some of your stuff since you listened to a few of mine ;). anyway on to the review. I would say that this is put together 90% perfect. all I would change is perhaps adding some reverb to your "wobble". when it gets really glitchy toward the end the dead space between noises almost creates a buffeting that I think is a tad unpleasent. I would also incorporate more filters over your wobble to give it more diversity, that and some automated pitch. just my opinion though! oh and I like the notes a lot. notes are a huge thing with music, not just the melody you turn them into. the notes you picked are eerie, explosive, and they evoke a giant battle scene in my head between robots and zombies.

inhstudios responds:

thanks for the review, broski! :)
its great to hear that you like my music.
the full version is done, if you havent checked it out yet.

I think it's brilliant however you need to spend some more time in th eeffects department to really expand that bass wobble! everything is perfect except for that. oh and maybe make the percussion louder. it helps in dubstep to have a crazy reverbed snare and a loud ass bass kick. ither way I like it, better dubstep than I could do atm

inhstudios responds:

yeah. im workin on it.
i gotta get my sound right.
i do many genres, so its always hard to get everything sounding perfect, but i try my hardest.
im learning more about how things work as i go along. been doing this for about 5 years now, and its always been as fun as my first day.
jk, my first day was terrible, i had no idea what i was doing :D

I give this a 2.5 because I feel as if it needs to be more full. I love that you took time to write lyrics but some things I would change- I would change the voice filter. something about sounding THAT robotic doesn't really seem romantic. also I would layer effects over the percussion. it sounds too.... basic? add some reverb, add some distortion, just somethingf to make it pop. I gave you a 4 up top. I don't want to ruin your score because this isn't bad, I would just change things ;)

hanorotu responds:

I will definitely take this into consideration. I might remake the song after I get finished with a few projects. I agree it does sound a little empty. I thought maybe I would try minimalistic, but I guess it didn't really work for this song xD

this is awesome, it reminds me of the stuff I like to make. I would just say make it longer and add a bridge. also that synth idk what it is, either a glass bell or something, I would totally get rid of it and add something else. just hop on 3xosc get the crs matched up and just tweak it until you get a nice hypersaw or something. also it seems you used a saw for the bass? it doesn't sound bad, it would just sound a lot better if it was pure bass. all in all very good, I like

eyramusic responds:

hmm... maybe i'll try that can't make pure basses i'll try though the main synth is preset it's square 2 on 3xosc (if you have fl) i'll try what you said! :-) thanks for advice!

I agree with the below commenter, the bass sounds a little off. perhaps eq it with parametric eq get it nice and loud. even throw the compressor on there or something. overall very good, catchy, not sloppy, transitions need a bit of work. judging by this and your other stuff I highly recommend you look into use of effects more. they make all the difference when producing, even if you're using samples

nice notes and a decent synth you've got here. sadly this doesn't really have a dubstep feel. needs way heavier bass, and the percussion patterns need to change. this is more just an indie hip hop beat, I'd like to see it finished. oh and if you want to get more out of this synth try cloning it and filtering it differently. tweak with hp bp and svf lpx2. and whilst doing so change up which octave you're in. if you use like 2-3 different filters but the same melody, you can add a lot of enjoyable listening diversity to this track

Amen dude, at first it reminded me of deadmau5. I agree with the comment below, carry out the bass a bit more, or filter it differently and throw in a curve ball every coupe bars. it would sound nasty

SirSirius responds:

wow thanks, deadmau5 :D
